The Project

The restoration and refurbishment of an historic church building in South Wales.

After years of neglect and some serious structural failures in the tower, some major restoration work was required. Externally, stone capping’s were replaced with purpose made local stone, all matching original details. Stone walls had to be rebuilt, boundary walls repointed, pier caps replaced together with roofing works to address the water ingress and failed stonework at high level.

The internal refurbishment required the removal and replacement of flooring, the construction of a stage with new partition walls forming office and corridors. The complete refitting of all toilets, new kitchen, changing rooms with staircase and wall panelling restoration works. All doors were overhauled, new ironmongery and all details to match existing so that the Conservation Officer could approve works in progress and sign off the project on completion.

Three new Chandeliers were fitted into the sanctuary high level vaulted ceiling, electrical motors and supporting timbers to allow lowering for cleaning and maintenance.

This contract was carried out over six months carefully co-ordinating all trades to complete the works so that the church could broadcast worldwide the dedication service attended by their overseas officials.
